01UNESCO

Pure nature

Seceda sits on the sunny side of Val Gardena, in the middle of the Cisles-Odle nature park, part of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage since 2008.

From the summit you see the Dolomites and every mountain in South Tyrol: from the Ortles to the Vetta d'Italia, out to the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello in Trentino. It is the kind of view that does not fit in a photograph — thousands try every year.

02Hiking

Hiking

The Dolomites you can reach from Seceda are a paradise for walkers at any level. They run from easy paths that suit children to via ferrata and full climbing routes.

The two finest loops start and finish at the top station, take an hour or a little more and pass three mountain huts. They are described step by step on the hiking page, with the map to download.

03MTB

Mountain bike & e-bike

For cyclists, the Seceda mountains are the right place to begin a mountain bike or e-bike tour. Your bike comes up with you: loaded onto the gondola at Ortisei and carried by cable car to the top, €7.00 per ride.

From the summit the descents are many and of varying difficulty. At the valley station there is rental, a workshop and qualified MTB guides.

04Our lifts

Our lifts

The view starts on the way up. Along Val d'Anna above Ortisei you pass the Col de Flam archaeological site; then come the geological formations of the Balest, the Seura Sass and Seceda itself.

From the top station you see almost all of South Tyrol and, beyond it, the mountains of Trentino, Lombardy and Austria. Close at hand, the Dolomites: from the Tofane to the Sciliar, the Sella massif, the Sassolungo and on to the queen of them all, the Marmolada.

Gorgeous mountains

In 2007 a lookout point was built near the summit cross: a 360° view over the Dolomites, the Brenta group, the Ortles and Adamello groups, the Ötztal and Stubai Alps as far as the Großglockner.

The most prominent peaks are named on a circular board, each with its elevation. Studying it properly is one of the best things to do up here.

06MTB School

Bike shop & rental

At the valley station, MTB School runs the shop, the rental and the workshop, and guides anyone who wants to discover the Dolomites from the saddle.

May to the end of October, daily 08:30–12:00 and 13:30–18:30.

07Après Seceda

Après Seceda bar

After a day on the bike or on foot, the bar at the bottom station is where you stop. The Après Seceda team serves drinks and snacks, inside at the counter or outside on the sun terrace.

It is also the meeting point for the valley's paraglider pilots, who are happy to tell you about flying conditions — ask at the bar or at the Club Parapendio Val Gardena.

08Tandem

Paragliding

Paragliders take off from the Seceda summit every day. On a two-seater tandem flight you see Val Gardena the way an eagle does, with no experience needed.

09#seceda

Instagram hotspot

In 2017, the audience at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose saw several photographs of Val Gardena and the Dolomites. One of them — the Seceda ridge with the Odle behind — was the backdrop for the launch of the new iMac.

Millions followed the conference by live stream, and from that moment the photograph went round the world. It was not the last: Sony used images of the Odle seen from Seceda to launch a 4K OLED television.

You can see the result on the path: every year thousands come up to take the same picture. If you would rather have it without the crowd, book a window early in the morning or after 14:00.
